The Department of the Army Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Department of Army intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government.
After Program completion, Department of the Army Recent Graduates MAY be converted to a permanent position.
To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Recent Graduates must:
Successfully completed at least 1-year of continuous service in addition to all requirements of the Program.

Positions are open to:
Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.
Veterans unable to apply within two years of receiving their degree, due to military service obligation, have as much as six years after degree completion to apply.
You will serve as an Engineering Technician (Drafting) in a developmental capacity. You will receive progressively more complex assignments tailored to develop technical skills and gain experience in the following areas, but not limited to:
Prepare final design drawings from detailed sketches. Update project drawings using Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) systems to reflect changed conditions or as-built.
Work from marked-up prints, sketches, formal and informal notes, discussions with foremen and craftworkers and actual observation and analysis of existing conditions.
Scan and update a variety of existing drawings.
Research and provide drawings, contracts, design memos, reports, slides, photographs and project files for Project, District, Division and HDC staffs.
Analyze drawings to determine the proper drawing required for the specific purpose, the view or slide that most accurately illustrates the module or feature queried, and any other support documents required.
Operate and perform day-to-day upkeep maintenance of printers, plotters, and other equipment.
Manage a complete and current engineering drawing database and computerized index.
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience required:
For the GS-05 grade level: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as:Experience using engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents to perform technical work in drafting, construction estimating, architecture, electrical or mechanical systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
For the GS-06 grade level: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work of the job. Specialized experience is defined as:Experience interpreting drawings, plans, specifications and/or technical data for civil, mechanical and/or electrical projects AND experience using computer-aided design and drafting systems to produce engineering drawings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities)in the following areas:
Skill and Knowledge in General Engineering
Skill in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD)
Skill in Communication/Coordination
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
For the GS-05 grade level: Have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor''s degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following courses: engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. At least 6 of the 24 semester hours must have been in drafting. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
For the GS-06 grade level: Have successfully completed one half year of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position, such as engineering, construction, or industrial management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience described above may be used to meet total qualification requirements at the GS-05 and GS-06 level.
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
